Q&A

What is the motivation behind LazyTown?
The overarching goal of LazyTown is to motivate kids to live healthier lives. Magnus Scheving, the creator, was motivated by kids and learned from them just how excited they were when they made positive changes in their lives.
LazyTown believes that the best way to get kids to understand this is to inspire them and lead by example. LazyTown delivers positive, healthy messages in an entertaining way. We want to empower kids to get out there and GO! and do things that they haven't done before. more...
The audience, who are "they"?
"They" are kids, 4 - 7. Our experience is that LazyTown is just right for both boys and girls 4 to 7 years old. However, it has proven to be appealing to kids as old as 10 and as young as 2. They? are also parents. All good parents want their children to grow up to be healthy and generous individuals.
Why does LazyTown appeal to kids and parents alike?
Working with kids and parents for nearly two decades, we have realised that kids have two things in common wherever we go. They do not want to be talked down to, and they want to move. When LazyTown explains health, we would say it’s all about balance. Until now there has not been a significant role model in health for kids. That’s why LazyTown does not preach but instead leads by example.
We have also learned that parents across the world all have the same wishes for their kids. Parents want their kids to be safe and educated, get enough sleep and enjoy a healthy, balanced diet. Parents also want their kids to show empathy by sharing things and following the rules, but at the same time, being able to push the envelope. Last but not least, parents want their kids to be honest and fair – not to lie and cheat. LazyTown means different things to different people. LazyTown appeals equally to boys and girls. For some kids it’s all about dance and music, while for other kids, it’s about sports and action. But for parents, it’s a tool to raise healthy kids.
Can all kids join the LazyTown Sports Club?
The short answer is YES! The LazyTown Sports Club classes incorporate many different ways that inspire kids to get moving, including games, music and vivid imagination. Kids that are used to moving will get a chance to use their abilities to the fullest while kids that have been inactive will get a chance to initiate their bodies’ natural instinct to move.
