LazyTown announces not one but two Daytime EMMY award nominations
Reykjavik, 26 March 2007-LazyTown is nominated for two Daytime EMMY Awards 2007! 2006 saw LazyTown’s Julianna Rose Mauriello nominated for a Daytime EMMY for her role as Stephanie.
This year, the company has received two nominations – the first which was announced at the Kidscreen Summit in New York in February, which recognised Magnus Scheving and Jonathan Judge for Outstanding Directing In A Children's Series. The second, which was recently announced, recognised composer Mani Svavarsson for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction & Composition.
Mani Svavarsson, said of the nomination, “I am delighted with the nomination. We had such a great time putting together the arrangements for the series, and having had such great success with Bing Bang (Time to Dance) going into the UK charts at number 4 at Christmas, this is all more great news for us and for the rest of the LazyTown team. “
Magnús Scheving, the company’s founder and CEO added, “We at LazyTown are so ecstatic to receive the nominations again this year! In 2006, we received a nom for Julianna Rose Mauriello’s role as Stephanie and it’s amazing to be listed yet again in other categories! We are delighted with the response to the LazyTown movement in the US, and now in 103 countries across the world, and we hope to continue to inspire kids and caregivers for years to come.”
For the Outstanding Direction award, LazyTown is up against veteran PBS show, Sesame Street and It’s a Big, Big World also from PBS, and the Outstanding Music Direction & Composition is up against Bratz, Sesame Street and Scooby Doo, among others.
This is a major coup for LazyTown, and the winners will be announced at the ceremony in Los Angeles’ Kodak Theater in June.
